The anatomy of the tooth is restored before the RCT is started. In this case the distal wall of the tooth was restored with composite.

Root canal treatment.

The pulp chamber is filled with a glass ionomer or a ceromer restoration to structurally reinforce the tooth.

Reduce the occlusal surface by approximately 1.5mm. This step can also be done at the beginning of the RCT to get the tooth out of the bite.

Two grooves are cut from buccal to lingual, one over the mesial cusps and one over the distal cusps.

Two everStick® Ortho fibres (± 14mm in length) are bonded into the grooves with flowable composite.

The occlusal aspect of the tooth is restored over the fibres.
|
 |
 |
The occlusion is adjusted and the restoration is finished and polished.
